Get to Know James
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s degree in counseling from Xavier University, James McCombs is dedicated to helping his clients overcome various mental health challenges. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio State University in 2020 and has experience working at Living Hope Counseling Services in College Hill. His areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, OCD, and mood disorders, and he offers faith-based counseling.
James takes a client-centered approach to therapy, focusing on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive therapy (MBCT), Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy to help his clients develop a realistic and balanced outlook on life. He believes in helping his clients recognize their strengths and work to build them up. His own experience with mental health challenges in his family has given him a heart for others who are struggling with similar issues.
Clients struggling with low self-worth, low confidence, or uncertainty about the future may find that James is a good fit for them. He is committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings and experiences. Outside of work, James enjoys soccer, exercising, watching movies, playing video games, and indulging in his favorite treat – ice cream.
