Keefer Kaneshiro, a compassionate therapist, earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from Ohio University in 2019. He’s now a graduate student at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Social Work and slated to graduate in 2024. Keefer is a licensed Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) and Social Work Trainee (SWT).
Keefer’s therapeutic expertise spans various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and more. He combines these approaches to address complex mental health issues and places a strong emphasis on building self-esteem and self-confidence in his clients. His approach is informal, fostering a safe, non-judgmental space.
Keefer chose to become a therapist due to his firsthand experience with therapy’s transformative power and his innate curiosity about people. He’s successfully helped clients with a range of challenges, including anxiety and depressive disorders, PTSD, ADHD in children, and various relationship and social issues.
On a personal note, Keefer’s unique experiences include being left-handed, shark diving in Hawaii, and earning the title of “most quotable” in his high school class. He comes from a military background, having lived in various locations, including Hawaii, California, Tennessee, Texas, and New Mexico. Beyond therapy, Keefer enjoys reading, playing indie video games, and is passionate about environmental conservation and trivia, particularly in the realms of mythical creatures and 2000s music.
